I have a 3AL in my narrowboat and interested in any info as to parts availbility etc Engine No is 64056. I had the fuel pump rebuilt last year as it seemed to run more like a 2 cylinder than a 3 cylinder! It runs great now and lm thinking of upping the prop from 22" to 25" as it runs a bit fast now. One small problem when starting from v cold it takes a few turns even producing lots smoke with excess button in--l dont spin it much on decompression first, could that be wrong? but if l alter the timing starts well but feels a little "advanced" and sounds like your prerebuilt video--any ideas??

Great vids-saw the Dorman on Youtube while back.

Hi SimonRex

Welcome to the forum, Since the rebuild of your injector pump have you spill point timed your engine as the dorman L series of engines are normally very easy starters even in cold weather. I take it from your post that you have moved the timing which in turn makes the engine easy to start I would think the postion you have it at normally is wrong and the injection timing needs setting up.

If you have a copy of the manual for this engine the procedure to correctly time it is fully explained.
