Engine current condition - Awaiting stripdown & Inspection.
Recently arrived here with us is this 1965 built Gardner 6LXB (150hp @ 1650rpm). Orignally built as an 6LX a full year before the first prototype LXB was tested, however appears to have been remanufactured by Gardner at some time in the past and modified to LXB spec at that time.
This engine has arrived with us after removal from the owners boat after repeated reliability problems. Having been rebuilt by another engine builder in 2018 and only having covered 80 hours of use since then in has now suffered a suspected bearing failure. It has been bought to us for a full strip, inspection and, if recoverable, overhaul.
